This week I made a super duper fun cake, called a piñata cake! If you aren't sure what a piñata cake is, it's basically a cake with a hollowed out center that you can fill with anything from sprinkles to your favorite candy and so much more! If you want to learn how to make a piñata cake of your own, just keep reading. I have step by step instructions!
Step 1: After your cakes are baked and cooled, you need to hollow out your centers. Take a circle cookie cutter, place it on the middle of your cake and press down. Take out the cutter and out will pop out a big fat yummy piece of cake that I know you want to eat. BUT WAIT! Save it and put it to the side. Yes, you can do it!
Step 2: Place that cake you just made a hole in and place it on top of your other cake layer. Line up the layers, take your cookie cutter and make an indent on the bottom layer. Take off the top layer and then place the cookie cutter where the indent is and push it thru. Do this same process for the rest of your cake layers, if you have them. You need at least two cake layers for a piñata cake.
Step 3: Now for the fun part..filling the cake! You can fill your cake with whatever you like. For this cake, I filled it with sprinkles. Stack your cake layers how you normally would when making a layered cake. Make sure the holes are lined up. Now, dump in whatever you are putting in the middle. Be sure not to overfill by leaving an inch or two at the top.
Step 4: Take one of the pieces of cake you cut out with the cookie cutter. Eat it and enjoy! Now, take one of the other pieces you cut out and use it as a plug to fill the top part of your cake.
Step 5: Frost and decorate your cake!
Step 6: Eat it!:). Seriously, this is the best part!
